Artists chalk.DIY

Hey everyone. Remember how I said I would post a DIY once a week....has it been more than a week? I hope not. Anyhow this one was more of an experiment... I heard about dying hair with chalk and that it was temporary...but I also heard that the more water you put onto your hair and the lighter your hair is....it may be more like semi temporary. I wanted to see.

This DIY takes fifteen minutes. You need:

Hair
Chalk
Water
Hands

Here we have my artist chalk...they are like pastels...but don't use oil! **might have to try**
I had to rub all of the dust off of mine because as you can see...they are quite often used.

Choose the colors you want....I went with reds pinks and yellows.

Wet hair..I just came from shower. Take chalk and run DOWN your hair with chalk in fingers.

Shit, it's messy.

It will dry and look like this.
yes i'm im pajamas.
yes I have chalk all over my face
yes I need to clean my room

My hair was very damp...and thus the color lasted about two weeks. Nice...but I don't wash my hair too often...

As always..if you try a DIY, send me a photo! I love to see! If you want to follow eachother, I gladly will =) Just leave a comment saying you are following me and i'll return the favor!

TUESDAY DIY

Yes. I'm late again. How about from now on you just expect a weekly DIY...it will be somewhere...anywhere during the week. It's like Grease. Take the pressure and throw it away. Conventionality belongs to yesterday...or sometime last week. So here are two little DIY ideas, and one step by step. First:

Don't go out and buy a pin cozy. Cut the end off of a sock, roll it up and slip it around your wrist. It also stands independently if you would rather not risk poking yourself while sewing.

Second, Do you have a t shirt? Do you have an old dress you don't like...a cool sheet..or new fabric? Simply sew it around the bottom of the shirt to make a dress. Get shnazzy and change it to empire waist or alter the bottom for a textured look. My fabric is sheer. Not sure what to do with it quite yet.

Third. I have heard the you can in fact use acrylic paint on clothes. For me, it worked. You need a shirt, a book to keep the color from bleeding to the other side and to keep a flat surface. You also need any acrylic paint- I used some really cheep shit. Get a paintbrush and a pencil, too.

Sketch what you want, and then paint it in.

Shit, try not to smudge. I was altering a pencil line and was holding the paint brush in the same hand, it smudged =(.

Let it dry. Wear it. It isn't horribly itchy either. It washes and stays in place. I got this idea from some photo I saw, which like Usual I can't find or remember the link.

As always, If you try something, send a photo =) If you follow me and let me know, I will gladly follow you back.

DIY TIME

Okay, you caught me. I totally forgot about my DIY last monday. And frankly, I have NO TIME today. So here is a cheat DIY. I saw these little photos on the web and picked out my favorites. Try them, and let me know how you do.

Which is your favorite?

Here are a couple shots of when I did these.

Strap your Helmut's on, It's a bumpy ride.

Vogue just did a little excerpt on Helmut Newton. Who is someone I truly enjoy the work of, but often slips my mind. He was so revolutionary and daring and just so timeless. Who doesn't love a well dressed   nude woman smoking a cigarette in the middle of the City streets? I wanted to share some photos.

Water Marbling.

Have you seen those videos for WATER MARBLING? I saw a video and was intrigued....but put off by the trashy acrylic nails and hideous color combinations. Sorry. Yet, I wanted to try it. So I used a light pink mixed with a clear for all nails but my two ring fingers which I went "crazy" on and used bright pink and yellow. Here is what they look like:

Monday part one

Do you own a mens button up shirt?
Do you want a new dress for spring?
If yes to any above- try this.

and If you don't own a mens shirt- seriously go to the thrift store.

You need-
 a mens button up shirt,
a pair of sharp scissors
and sewing machine( or needle and thread+ patience)

Follow these really clearly photographed steps.

 snip snip snip
 cut cut cut
snip snip snip

After you cut- it looks like this more or less. You can choose to opt out of the extra sleeves which I eventually did. Following all of this cutting, just sew the raw edges to look nice and bring it in on the sides so that it fits you. It's a really cute look for spring time.  You could find a really cool print at a thrift store. Good luck and Remember- If you try this DIY, e-mail me or Tweet me a photo and I'll post it!!

And a little note - Here is a photo from my boyfriends family farm...I have this unrealistic dream to be a farmer here in France....Am I cut out to farm?? no....but isn't it beautiful?
